Education/Curriculum

Triad teachers are transitioning this year to new standards in Math, English Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. This involves shifts in content, often to different grade levels, as well as changes in instruction. New materials have been purchased for K-12 math and elementary literacy to align with increased expectatons. All subjects will be taught in more depth, and students will be expected to master and retain skills to use in new applications.

Why are these changes important--and necessary?  Across the nation, too many students are graduating from high school without being fully prepared to go on to a 2-or 4-year college, a technical school, or to enter the work place.  Our communities now include the global community, and competition to fill jobs that have not yet been created will be fierce. Our goal is to assure our Triad students are able to be critical readers, writers, and problem-solvers, ready to meet any challenge that lies ahead.
